Does Windows Media Player output streaming radio stations to 7.1-speaker setups (like Sirius XM's Web interface does) (rather than simply 2 or 3 speakers)?

My father and I got a Sirius XM radio yesterday. I was unsuccessful at making it come out all 7 of my speakers (as an application that natively supports 7.1 surround sound or outputs a mono track through all present channels would). I got it to come out 5 of them. It is currently coming out the center speaker and somewhat coming out the others (most notably the rear and the side speakers). It does not seem to be coming out the front left and right except on louder parts. To demonstrate the concept, compare something such as ModPlug Tracker (http://openmpt.org/) with something such as Marble Drop (http://www.gameswin.biz/gameen.php?id=891) (Hopefully that works properly. I installed it with an original disc, so I don't know how playing it in DOSBox will behave.) or Chex Quest (http://www.chexquest.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=25).
